Miracle mud or dsb??

I just set up my refugium sump and i need to know whether to go with miracle mud or deep sand bed? I only have a 7 inch deep fuge so i really only have about 3 inches room for substrate. What are the pros and cons of both? My main focus for the refugium is to reduce algae in the display

I;m not sure that you will see much of an advantage going with either since your fuge is gonna be so small. I've read countless times that the miracle mud isn't worth the money or effort if that helps any. I have a 4 inch sandbed or so in my 125g's refugium and I've found that to be satisfactory, my nitrates have been staying pretty consistent at 0.

The fuge is 8 x 7 x 7 for a 25 g tank

Sand and rock rubble (or a bit larger) will work just fine. Doing a light and macro algae too?
