Well today 9-24-09.....
This morning it took me about 2 1/2 hours to put all coral and fish back in tank. Mind you I just placed everything in the tank. No order as of yet because I want to have my lights in place so that I can judge a little better as to where their new placements will be.
This evening I started to hook up my metal halides which as you can see by photo there are three. They consist of 250 watt radium bulbs. The reflectors are Lumenmax and the ballasts are galaxy ballast. This time I screwed to the back of canopy the ballasts. Any heat produced by them will be disbursed throughout the room instead of under the stand.

I have not finished yet but installed the first row of Super bright LED's so that I can enjoy the tank with the blue actinics. All together there will be 10 stripes. They will be secured to the hood with plastic ties.

I actually am using them to bring out the colors in my corals. I still need to install my moonlight to the canopy.

Ok today 9-25-09 I finally finished the lights in the canopy.
Boy was that sucker heavy! Lifting it on top of the tank which now stands 6 feet tall was a job. Especially for a shorter guy like me it was literally a finger crushing job.
Once I turned on the LED actinics my heart was pounding from the excitment. I still need to rearrange a lot of the corals but wanted to see somewhat, some of my labor of love.
I also noticed that the water was milky white. I assume that this is because the water either has too much bacteria or too little bacteria. I have not cycled a tank in over 8 years. How long will the water remain this milky?
These pics are with actinics only and remember guys I have not placed the corals in their new home.

Here are pics with the halides on. You can notice the milky white water.

Well finally! Rearranged some of the rock structure and placed corals in their new home. I actually was looking for a frag and have not been able to find it. My pearl berry frag! Since the water is still a little milky I am hoping that in a few days I will be able to see a better reflection against the glass in the back of tank. At that point I hope I can find it!
I added a juvenile wantanebi angel.
The fish in the aquarium are:
1 yellow tang
1 blue regal tang
1 kole tang
1 orange shoulder tang
2 pyrimad butterflies
1 possom wrasse (I saw this one today)
1 mystery wrasse
1 yellow belly damsel
1 barlett anthias
1 flameback angel
1 black/white clown
1 wantanebi angel
This should be good for now.
Any how on to the pics of the tank. Excuse the fact that the water is still milky in appearance.

Will take some new pics when the water clears.
Only one piece of PVC guys can you find it?:celeb1:

That is a awsome tank. Love the pyramid angel (if that is what it is called).

So are you worried about a cycle in your tank. You just switched everything over correct. I am getting a 180 soon. I am switching from a 75. I will more than likely have 2 tanks running for some period of time as I get more rock for the 180 and cycle it with that live rock. I am just wondering what your levels are looking like.

I am and was a little worried but I used as much of my old tanks water. All of my LR and upper layer of the sand from the tank were recycled as well to the new tank. I am sure I will have some form of cycle. I am also using Brightwells Microbacteria.
I checked todays readings and so far Ammonia is 0, Nitrites are 0, Nitrates less than 5, Ca 460, Alk 9.8.
Good luck with your upgrade and start a thread so that we can follow along as well.

Well guys I think I am almost finished! Just a few more touches and I will be done.
The water is FINALLY cleared up and pics are to follow.
I am not sure what to do with the koralia power heads. I would like to place them so that the corals get the best over all flow. So far my current placement makes the sand bed blow onto the corals that I placed at the bottom.
Any suggestions for better placement?
I still have some coral epoxying to do but mostly done.
I have connected lights to timers so that I don't need to be home to turn the lights on.
Next in the plans are the following that I have already just need to install:

1. Moonlight install
2. ATO install
3. Refugium install
4. Trim for bottom of stand
5. Matching trim for canopy
Here are FTS from different angles.
Let me know what you think.

Once corals have had time to acclimate to their new surroundings I will take pics of them individually.

Hey JSDANCER are you running a ca reactor? Also are you running any type of media reactors? Can you show some pictures of how your sump is laid out? Last but not least can you show how you are going to/ where you are going to put your refugium?

Hey for your koralias do you have the flow directors. You could try using those. You can point them more towards the sand with those with less disturbance. Thats how I have one of mine.
