So what do you guys recommend on how to transfer stuff over? Should I keep the other tank running and transfer some LR to get the cycle going? I have about 40# of LR in my system right now. A local reefer gave me about 30-40# of base that I can use. And also my brother's boss is tearing his tank down which has about 40# of LR that I will be getting next week. How should I go about doing this so that I don't kill my livestock in my 40?

Cmor is right my tank did cycle, but it only lasted a few days. It could have lasted longer but I only started to test after about 2 weeks and only took me about 4 days for all the traces to reach near zero. I finally transfered my 40 over to the 75, took 2 days to do it though. I only have about 2 hours every night to work with the tank thats why it took 2 days to transfer everything over 2 feet. I have some more stuff to do to the tank and its setup still so will post pics of what I have so far tomorrow. Wife took the camera to the shop and forgot to bring it home.

I agree...that center brace makes me nervous now. You really weakened it drastically. That brace is there for a reason and you took virtually all it's strength away. I would get a clear strip of acrylic and glue it down over those holes to give that brace some strength.

I appreciate the concern cccapt, but I looked at that center brace before doing that. And I think that the integrity of the tank is still there even after drilling the holes. But to be on the safe side I will glue down a strip of acrylic to not have any mishaps. Here are some pics just as promised.

Have a piece of painted acrylic to go on the back of the tank but not putting it up yet as I am still setting up everything.

Thats a piece of my framing that I have right next to the tank. Still have to do one more coat of poly, so it should be up in the middle of next week.

Looks like you are almost there. I don't think the drilling of that top center brace is so bad. It's meant to keep the tank from splitting apart at the top. I think you have enough material left on either side of your drilled holes to prevent them from splitting open. The amount of wood left should be fine. I've seen what electricians and tin knockers (HVAC) guys do to real structural beams in the basements of homes.

Of course adding a piece of acryllic over top doesn't hurt either....how that for weasling out

Alright got my sump in and working. But a slight problem, could you guys take a look and see if I am doing anything wrong?

Whats happening is I am getting a gurgling sound like water is being held back at the T when I try to boost the return up a bit. Right now I have the valve open almost full so that the pump is not pumping everything back up to the tank. I have 3/4" return line, and 1" for flow from tank to sump.
