Good to know, seems like if I go with two 16" fixtures the corals,my wallet and the wife will all be happier..

Right. Photosynthetic creatures only need X amount of light for X amount of time. They don't care if it's straight on off or fading in and out.

Looking to make the purchase now and they seem.to have gone up in price

Here's a 165 watt model-
Dimmable 165W LED Aquarium Grow Light Full Spectrum Fishtank Reef Coral LPS SPS | eBay

They go up and down on a regular basis. If you don't want that one, just wait a week or so and they will go down again.

you can try searching alibaba, if you can't find it on ebay. Most of the fixtures you see originate from there.
