Nothing real seriouse but I found a piece of my frogspawn floating around, so I placed it in a cup of tank water on top of my tank. Can I use this as a frag to make another one?? If so how much time do I have and how do I do it?

It happened twice before but I could not get the piece in time.

Thanks,
Rich

Okay, is it a bloated sweeper tenticle that broke off? I am not sure frogspawns can do that, I know hammers can. If so the likelyhood of it forming a new colony is very unlikely, however not disproven. If it is one of the branches that has fragged off, you should be able to stick it down and watch it go.

It looked like a normal branch, but it has shrunk up in the cup I had it in. I'm just gonna let it go in the tank.

Thanks for your help.

Rich

Make sure it does not land on nearby corals. Even though not attached it will still carry nematocysts and do damage. AFAIK, all LPS corals or this type break off sweepers.

Cheers
