New 55 gallon... well old cichlid turning into a salt.

I got a 20 long thats been running for a couple years. Gonna turn my dads old 55 into a saltwater tank. Thinking of going with a few corals, simple ones like xenia, starburst, mushrooms etc. And most likely a baby snowflake eel with a singapore angel and what other fish do you guys think would add some color to the tank without becoming lunch? Also im not gonna add inverts such as shrimp or hermits due to the eel.
