New doughnut coral is this bad?

I bought a new coral, a type of brain coral. I got a discount cuz the skeleton was showing a bit but I thought it might be worth saving or at least attempting to. The colors in the pictures don't even come close to how beautiful it really is. I've fed it some shrimp and it's taken it so I hope it's a good sign.

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck in reviving a coral like this and if anyone has any advice other than keep perfect water and feed it a couple times a week.
