new filter

I have just started a new fluval 404 filter in my 75 gallon salt water aquarium. I have a old fluval 203 in the tank that I want to put in another tank. How long should I wait for the 404 to get a good bacteria colony before I take out the 203 from the tank.

if you move the bio-media to the new filter you should not have to worry. Moving some of the media, say 1/3 would help speed up the process. Without doing anything 2 weeks should be sufficient. If the tank has enough lr, about 1-1/2 lbs per gal you shuldnt need the media, but better safe than sorry when removing the media.
