New hermit crab

Hello guys!

I bought today some hermit crabs for my tank and I asked the LFS to give me some empty shields in order to have some extra in case they want to change them.

The issue is that I think he gave me some shields with dead snails inside, they smell pretty bad. What should I do? Should I put them in the tank? Should I clean them?and how?.

Just leave it dry outside the tank for a week and wash it thoroughly before putting it to your tank.
