i just got my own ro/di unit. i started it up about 2 hours ago, and the directions say that you should not use the output until 10 gals of usable water have passed through.

i have a 24 gal per day kent marine maxxima24. do i seriously need to let 10 hours of water go through?

anyone with experience here that can confirm the bad news of 10 hours, or contradict and say less?

Be sure and take the DI cartridge out before you run water through it. The RO membranes are packed in a phosphate based coating to preserve them and this will exhaust your DI quite quickly. Run at least 10 gallons through it!

Agree with Bearfan and Darin...10 gal minimum. I'd probably let it run for a day before I connected the DI cartridge.
