New skimmers have a break in period could be up to a couple of weeks, Before it really starts producing. I am using this skimmer on my 30 gal. It took about a week before it began producing brown froth. I still can not open it much as it produces a lot of bubbles in the tank when I open it to much.

I bought a seaclone about 8 days ago and I just now have some yellowish green stuff in there. It's not black like everyone says. I this good?

That is fine. As long as its darker than the water in the tank its pulling something out. You might have to fine tune it some more. The more you tune it the darker the liquid will get. It should take a few days to accumulate something worth dumping out.

On the seaclone i belive they suggest you adjust the air intake so that the water level in the skimmer body is just below the rubber gasket going up into the skimmer cup.
