As for removing the bio balls and adding rock rubble Should i keep the trickle? Or fill the tank more so it doesnt trickle?

It is better to have the lr rubble completely submerged.

Ok thanks. What do you suggest i do with stock filter cartridge? replace with something or keep?

With the rubble rock you won't need the stock cartridge and that way your filter won't clog up.

You don't need carbon all the time. That's a good point and you could use it for carbon one week a month. IMO carbon is only good for about 5-7 days of use then it needs to be replaced.
