octopus idea

Ok well to begin let me just say getting an octopus was not my idea. My girlfriend wants it becasue it is free from my schools aquarium where it is quite unwanted. It will be placed in my refuge which is a 15 gal tank for awhile, becasue i don't want it eating all the animals in my main tank. I plan on covering the tank with fiberglass screening, sealing it as best from escaping as I can. She wants to get a seperate tank for it after we move in a few months and plumb it to my main set up. Any thoughts on how to care for one of these guys or how to plumb three tanks together into on system.The main and refuge are linked with an overflow and a mag 5 pump which works well and won't overflow if the power goes out, tested twice.

Probably best to wait until you get get the Octo its own tank on a seperate system. If the Octopus dies or releases toxins, it can nuke your entire main tank.

Yes you will definately need a bigger tank. 55 gallons is reccomended for even the smallest octopus species.
