i read on wet web media that only one type of macro should go into a fuge because multiple types will fight chemically. Is this true? anyone have experience keeping multiple types together?

I have 4 different types, and all of them seem to be struggling.

Sometimes it is not a question of fighting as much as it is a question of overloading the system too quickly and not having the nutrients for the algae to feed. When the system is short on resources all the algae will suffer unless you have one particularly dominant type that might survive.

BTW- What the $%*& is Skimmate?

Skimmate? It's the gunk that a protein skimmer produces.
