Palythoa Problem

I have some Palythoa and they are closing up and forming a white web over the top? Anyone have any idea of what and why that is?

Water is good. I checked everything today..

Can you tell us what you checked and what were the results. What`s good for one might not be good for others.

PH - 8.3
Nitrite - 0.1
Nitrate 5 or less
phosphate -0
Calcium - 400ppm

Not so good with those nitrItes.
How long has you tank been up and running?

it was up and running for a long time, I bought it from a friend and had to change all the water 55g. I used his sand which I'm sure helped to cycle the tank. It had since been up and running for 60 days.

Just a guess, but I'd say it might just be a delayed stress reaction. Using the existing sand for the tank when you moved probably released a few nasties into the water and might've caused a cycle with the tank full of corals. In addition, the 100% water change probably also caused a bit of stress due to the quick change in parameters.

If you could post a picture of the colony, it might spark someone that has seen it before...
