PH

So my ph hovers around 7.8 is that bad for my reef tank or should I use a buffer to raise it slowly to around 8.3?

PH

No, if it's not broke don't fix it. 7.8 is fine, and buffers can cause other issues

I agree. What is it about an hour before the lights go out.

That my ph all day everyday no matter when I test it... I been thinking about trying to raise it to 8.3 and seeing what happens.

As long as you're kh is stable I wouldn't worry too much about your PH ,plus your PH readings is still in the range

Why? Are your corals visibly upset? Those buffers are way more trouble than they're worth

My kryptonite trumpet has been slowly fading on me and I can't figure out why. My other corals are great and spread for me consistently. My anemone has split twice in the last two months which also has me thinking too. I'm thinking something is wrong and it split cause it's trying to make sure it survives and not because I have good water quality. Or maybe I'm just going crazy??
