pH 8.2 ?

My pH is 8.2 which is good. However, testing my alkalinity the Red Sea says it's between
0-0.7 is that to low?

Are Alkalinity and Carbonate Hardness the same? Meaning is my alkalinity test (Red Sea) the same as my carbonate hardness (API) test?

Yes carbonate hardness and alkalinity are the same. Alkalinity should be between 8-12 dKH so that would be extremely low. Are you sure you tested correctly?

Yeah I'm good. I used a Red Sea one and it was saying I was WAY LOW!! Then when I used my API it was @ 9 dKH. So, I think the Red Sea test kit is no longer any good.

You aren't kidding!! I was fixin to mix me up a batch of baking soda LOL!!

All I know is 3 or 6 drops into 6 ml of water. Shake it for 10 seconds and read it

Correct it was a mini lab with alk & pH

Yes but it's affect only last a couple of hours, I've had to do it once on my 55 gallon.

Because it raises Alkalinity, raising pH is a basic side affect (when using it to raise Alkalinity). My 55 was low on alkalinity a couple of weeks ago, and the baking soda did the trick.
