pH a tad low?

every time i go to my lfs to have my water tested, the sales rep always tell me that the pH is a tad low and i should use some buffering solution to keep it high like AquaVitro. my reading and her reading are about the same: near 8.0-8.2. should i listen to her advice? so far, my corals are doing well and none of the inhabitants seem stressed.

I understand that consistency is the key to this hobby and i just want a confirmation that the pH is not a big issue here. I have about 30-40lb of liverock and i use Kent's reef salt mixed with my own RO/DI water.

More important is that it's stable. I would not worry about it and leave it where it is. It's a tad low because they want you to buy something.

id say its ok. even if it was a "tad" low, if your corals are doing well and the fish are happy, why mess with it??

Mine stays at 8.1 to 8.2 . IMO as long as it is stable between 8.0 and 8.4 then its ok. A true reading is done an hour or so before the lights go out. Let us know what your reading is then.

It is fine, a lot of reefers get into trouble by adding chemicals. If you buffer your ph, you will get your all out of wack and so on. 7.9-8.3 is fine
