phosphate problem
well i checked my phosphate today after being out of town for 2 weeks and having my brother check baby my tank for me and its 1.0 and brown algae is covering the glass, not on the rocks or anything i do notice so nice collarine growing though

I wouldn't use Phosguard. I heard it leaches aluminum into your system.
I'm personally going to buy the 2 -Dr.'s brand called PhosPure. It's really cheap & I'm betting it's identical the more expensive PO4 removers such as: Kent PowerPhos Marc Weiss Phosphate+Silicate Magnet Rowaphos |

Ya steer clear of the Phosgaurd.
i would do a water change and vaccum the sand. Then if you want to add some filter media, it will help. What type of corals do you have? Your brother probably overfed.
