Pineapple sponges

I have a crazy amount of these sponges does anyone else?

Yeah me to, where do they come from?

I think they come from excess silicates I just added sand to my previous bare bottom tank

I'd go with that, the only trouble is I've had my live sand down now for 7 years plus with no new sand add and they have all popped up in the last 12 months

Hmm iv heard they come and go all the time

No, always there, same time same place lol

I don't know then maybe someone with a bit more knowledge then me will chime in iv only read that on google about the silicates

I wouldn't lose any sleep over the sponges, they've been around for millions of years & probably be around for a million more

I discovered some in my tank too...from what I've been told, they're harmless filter feeders.

Never done my tank any harm, quite nice little things really!!!!
