pink spotted goby

My pink spotted goby keeps swimming up to the top of the tank.... is he unhappy?

is he the only fish in the tank? Usually fish gulping or gasping or making trips to the surface means low dissolved oxygen

How old is the tank? I had mine for 14 yrs and he never went to the top. Always stayed on the substrate.

He died just a few minutes ago my water is fine ph nitrite ammonia wise but it does reek !?

Usually that is the smell of ammonia. You might want to carry your water test to your lfs for a double check.

Everyonce and a while my pink spot goes to the top and hangs out on the rocks.
I think he just likes to see what's going on.

I've had mine for years and he has never gone to the top of the tank. maybe the day i got him he lingered a bit up there but not since.

It's reeking for some reason. Do you have your own test kit? Can you post the results in a picture?

Is this a new tank? Post your parameters and maybe we can work out what happened. I take it you have powerheads or something for water movement/oxygen? What other livestock do you have in the tank?
