All of the clams that I have are on my live rock and I have a derasa clam coming in the mail Tuesday so I'm searching for just the right spot. My lighting will support it on the bottom of my tank but I am concerned that my bristleworms might monkey with him on the sand (bottom of the tank). Do you think this will be a problem or should I put him up on the live rock?

Thank you!

Placement due to bristleworm aggregation is irrelevant since they live within the rockwork and sandbed. Placement of the clam within your rockwork is fine, but if you would rather it be in the sandbed you can fill a cup/dish (Ramekin) with your sand and place the clam on top so the worms have a tougher time getting to it as it adjusts.

I just have mine on top of some LR. I`ve seen bristle worms in my tank but they have never bothered my clam. I`ve never heard about the cup/dish thing James is talking about but it does sound like a very good idea.

I think I'll do the dish thing. I don't have a lower flow area left for the clam so I'll put him on the bottom of the tank.

Thank you!
