Afternoon everyone :)

I'm starting to plan out my 55g build and wanted to share with everyone and possibly get some thoughts an idea's on it. Below is a list of what I already have or will be getting. would like to know your thoughts on the list and also what type of scape you think would look good since a 55g is a narrow tank.

  • 55 Gallon Rectangular Tank (already have)
  • Basic 55 Gallon Aquarium Stand (already have)
  • (2) Ocean Revive T-247 LED Lights (already have 1)
  • 60 lbs of Live Sand
  • 40 lbs Live rock – from current 36g tank (already have)
  • 20 lbs Dry Live Rock
  • KollerCraft TOM Rapids Pro RP3 Filter System (no room for a regular sump)
  • 2 Jebao RW-8's Wavemaker with Controller (already have them)
  • 160 Gallon Bucket of Reef Crystals Aquarium Salt (like to have extra lol)
Fish:
  • 2 Yellow and black Chromis (trading in, they have become too aggressive)
  • 2 Occellaris Clown Fish (already have)
  • 2 Blue Damsels (already have)
  • 1 Lawnmower Blenny (already have)
  • 1 Yellow Watchman Goby (already have)
  • 1 Sailfin tang (already have)
  • 2 Purple Fire Fish
  • 2 Clarkii Clowns
  • 1 Royal Gramma

  • Dwarf Ceriths snails
  • Nassarius Snails
  • Florida ceriths
  • Nerites
  • Turbo Snails
  • Blue Legged Hermits (already have)
  • Red Legged Hermits (already have)
  • Tuxedo Urchin
  • Bubble Tip Anemones
  • Rock Flower Anemones
  • Feather Dusters
  • Porcelain Crabs
  • Boxer Crabs
  • Cleaner Shrimp
  • Blue Coral Banded shrimp
  • Serpent Starfish

And now for the coral assortment:

  • Green Star Polyps (already have)
  • Maroon Mushroom (already have)
  • Assorted Zoanthids (already have)
  • Pink Birdsnest
  • Frogspawn
  • Torch Corals
  • Hammer Coral
  • Toadstool Leather Coral
  • Pulsing Zenia
  • Kenya Tree
  • Candy Cane Coral
  • Plating Montipora

The livestock and coral list may change a little as the time passes

Can't wait to see your thoughts or ideas!

It looks like a good list. There are only a couple problems that i see with it.

Sailfin tang - these require a 180g minimum. They are monster fish and will get stressed out in a tank as small as a 55g.

Damsels - These are generally nightmare fish. Most people that have them end up hating them and rehoming them due to aggression.

Clowns - 2 pairs of clowns very rarely works out in a tank, especially a smaller one such as a 55g. I would pick one pair you like most and rehome the other one.

Thanks for the info Mebbid :) Yeah the tang may not be staying with me, he has been doing great and still kinda small. If he doesn't grow too quickly wil keep him because I am planning on a bigger tank, 200g, when we get ready to move into new home. Will have much more room then lol.

Damsels have been doing great. have had them for almost a year and no problems so far. I think it is because I added them last to the tank so a hierarchy was already established. Clown idea will more than likely change lol.
