Play sand add on

My 75g tanks been set up for almost a year now. I have type of argonite/crushed shell bottom now. I have noticed that the bright white color of this substrate is a major collector of algae and aiptasia. I was wondering whether or not it is safe to add any type of play sand ontop of the existing bottom in order to produce a more realistic tank, and less algae. TIA

My tanks-
newly set up 75 gal SW, 30 lbs of fiji lr, 30lbs of lace rock, 90 lbs of course/fine argonite sand, rena canister filter, 48" 4x65 watt pc, red sea turbo berlin skimmer.
Inhabitants- 2 percula clown fish, 1 muchroom coral, 2 leather corals, and 2 mystery corals.

I did this, but the first time you vacuum the substrate, the sand will sink to the bottom and the bigger particles will move to the top.

Changing/adding sand won't kill the algae.
What/how often do you feed?
How long do you run your lights?
What are your water params?

If you have aiptasia, they are nasty little critters and can overtake your tank. I have no experience with them so you might want to ask others that have.

Just to make sure they are aiptasia can you get a pick. I wouldn't want you killing off something that is beneficial.
Age is relative, you are only as old as you act....of course, this works in reverse....

Questions loved, heeded advice greatly appreciated!
