Pods?

I hear people talking about "pods" all the time. What do they look like? Do they swim or what.

I know this maybe a dumb question but I'd sure like to know.

Thanks!

Small flea like "bugs" that crawl around. the term pods refers to copepods, or isopods, certain kinds are harmless while others are fish parasites that can become a problem.

Munnid isopods are harmless algae eaters.

Certain ones can kill your fish!

If it curls, i believe it is safe.

I think they look like very tiny shrimp. I only have seen mine out at night with a IR function on DV camcoreder. If u do a search for them on a search engine you can find some info
but here is a link http://shop.uwphoto.no/detail.asp?pr...id=esv125cd036

How mature is the tank when they start appearing? Are they introduced through LR?

The just seem to show up. I know when I got culurpa growing, mine appeared. If you have a UV Filter, it will kill them.

And another link to copepods, but if you see that look like the one below, get it/them out of the tank. Those are parasitic cirolanid isopocds.
