Polyp question....stringy stuff?

We just introduced a live rock in the tank that has several different corals/polyps on it.

There are some reddish brown (rust colored) ones, not sure of the name, but last night several of them each had a long "string" the same color as the specimen hanging out. They (the "strings") broke off.

Is this something to be concerned about? Has anyone had this happen before?

Sounds like it was probably expelling waste. I wouldn't worry.

Sounds like your talking about button polyps. They should be ok

i just got some reddish pink and some green shroom and they seem to have shrunk plus there is white brain type string hanging from its oral disk. what should i feed them i have a 55gal tank and only 3 Fls

They are expelling their guts. They do that when they are stressed. You don't have to feed them. But, they will eat whatever your feeding your other inverts and fish.

thanks but what should i feed them all i have for inverts is 4 mushrooms
