Hi
I was reading my book and it said a porcupine puffer is a hardy choice for tanks 40-75 gallons. Is that true and if so, would it work in a 54 gallon with a watchman goby, a chalk bass, a cleaner shrimp and some coral?
Thanks

they are not reef safe and will probable eat the shrimp and any other inverts you may have. They'll also nip at slow fish and are difficult to keep and require a larger tank then you have.

Porcupine puffers need a lot bigger tank than that . Live aquaria recommends a 180 but I feel like a 125 is ok with one or two tankmates. I kept my porcupine ( porc chop) in a 75 for about 5 months before I got him his 180 gallon . They are poop machines and the messiest eaters I have ever seen.

That book you were reading must have been very old. Its not even close the today's requirement for keeping a Porcupine.
