i have another of my now daily questions.

i have an aquaclear 802 powerhead. can use it on the outside of the tank and run pick up and return hoses back to the tank. i was thinking of just turning it around and hanging it on the back and making a couple of small elbows. i though this might clean up the look of the tank a little. do they need to be in the water to stay cool?

one other quick question. i would like to add a small power head like a 301 to turn on for an hour or so 2 - 4 times a day. is there a pump that can withstand turning on and off better than others. what is everyones favorite power head placements and cycles?

thanks for my daily does of saltwater knowledge

Most powerheads are required to be submerged underwater. The instructions or package should mention something.

most people like the Maxi Jet power heads. Cheap and dependable. MAG pumps are a nice bigger pump as well, these can be used both internally and externally.
Just make sure you have enough head height.
