its a mag 7 so 700 gph but it will pump up about 3' so that will knock it down some. what is a gph to look for cause I could just ge a bigger mag pump.

it will probably end up with around 500 or so gph

recommended flow for a FO or FOWLR is 10x the tank capacity. For a reef setup you want 20x or more.

I would like a reef like setup so should I get a 900 gph overflow with a mag 9.5 800gph at 4'

I would go with the pump you have and add a second smaller powerhead to make up the rest. Of course this unit would be inside the tank. That would make it so no new overflow is needed.

On second thought you could just add a 2nd pump to use with the SCWD and nothing new into the tank but the 3 lines. add a pump that would give another 400-500 gph for this and you would be done.

so just put another mag 7 in the sump and I'd be good than?

I would just get a pump that could be supplied from an intake tube in the tank. If you supply it from the sump you would need to add another overflow or a larger overflow to accomodate it.

so I would just run a tube from the tank to the pump than from the pump to a tee connected to the scwd and the return pump. right?
