Prefilter???

I have a question about the prefilter sponges that come with the Mag Drive 5 and the CPR Siphon Overflow.

When the sponges are dirty, do you just clean them with water and reuse it? or are you supposed to throw them away and buy new ones??

Also, is it ok to use these without the prefilters. It's alot less work and my skimmer would eventually get all the nasty stuff anyways...right???

What do you guys do...Im sure some of you must have some experience with the Mag 5!! 8)

You don't have to use the sponges. They are washable and will last for years. I would probably use the sponge in the overflow because it will catch the chunky stuff. JMHO.
