I have a 75gal with a 30gal sump/refugium and a Coralife Protein Skimmer. I have had the system up and running for about 5 weeks now and my skimmate of the Coralife is pretty clear.

I got up this morning and found that the skimmer was working overtime and had suddenly collected a lot of fluid (2 pints)...but still fairly clear.

Is my system still too young to produce darker skimmate?

Am I robbing my system of needed elements by skimming away clear liquid?

I have:
2 Chromis
1 Clown
1 Lawnmower blenny
1 Sixline Wrasse
1 Blue Hippo Tang
1 Peppermint Shrimp
30 Astria snails
30 Blue Legged Hermits
CORALS
3 Colt
2 Toadstools
1 colony of green polyps
1 colony of mushrooms
1 Frogspawn
1 Open Brain

sometimes water level can affect it. If the system is too closed (not letting in enough air) it will pull in more water, and fill up the cup.

No, it's the skimmer. How do you have it setup? How deep is the pump? How dense are the bubbles in the skimmer? Can you take a pic of how it's running?

No, at least not to any extent that there will be a noticable difference in anything.
