I'm fighting a low pH issue in my tank. My KH is around 10-11, but my pH is at 8.0. The good news is that it's holding steady (I take my readings at the same time of day).

I have a HOB filter to get some gas exchange going (and I use Purigen in it), along with one of my powerheads pointed upwards to get some exchange. Will adding a protein skimmer have an added side benefit of increasing the gas exchange as well? I'd imagine it would, as it injects air into the skimmer column...

A constant 8.0 ph is a OK. I would not worry about that. What is your PH about an hour before the lights go out.

I'll check that tonight. The 8.0 is mid-day when I do my PWCs every week.

A better time to check is right before the lights go out. I`d almost bet it will be 8.2

OK, I'll do that tonight.

So 8.0 is ok for coral? I suppose it's more important that it's steady...
