Protien skimmer help

Hi everyone. Just need some advice about my protien skimmer, its releasing alot of micro bubbles into my tank. Its a hang on skimmer its been running about 2 weeks. I think its broke in because the bubbles entre the collection cup. (Foam like stuff ) the micro bubbles are spreading all around my tank. It looks like a sand storm in there. I had this problem with my skimmer I have a tmc 400 skim and my tank was like a sandstorm so I got a nylon stocking and put it over the return pipe (dident pull it tight left it lose ish) and it trapped the bubbles... Worked for me..
