Are these strictly nocturnal? I think I have some in the tank but they only come out at night, any advice?
 
The tiny translucent 'hitch-hiker' types, yes, they're predominantly nocturnal. I think they primarily consume particulate matter and tiny nocturnal pods/crustaceans or their larvae. They're non-photosynthetic.

The larger pseudocorynactis species (like this one, ~6"+ diameter) can extend their tentacles at anytime and are non-photosynthetic as well:
