puffer puffs up when it poo

I have a spinney boxer puffer I think. Anyway I was watching the tank and it looked like for no reason he just puffed up but then I saw the big turd fall to the bottom of the tank. It later ate a bunch of shrimp. I can only get it to live fish or cut up shrimp so it gets the shrimp the most often. I have heard it is not good for them to puff up much. Dose this cause any problem to the other tank mates?

Shouldn't be a problem at all. It is only bad for them to puff up if they are out of water. Then they will use air to puff and may not be able to expel it. However, I've never heard of them puffing up to take a dump.

Is this the only puffer alive that has to puff up to poo? It leaves such a large dump about half the size of my fire fish. Anyone else ever see this. Tried to get a photo but My batteries died. And it was done before my wife got me some fresh ones.
