This coral real appeals to me and looks stunning but does it really grow as fast as people say? Is it a good idea to add it in or will it simply take over?

Thanks

Add it i love xenia! It will only take over if you have it in there for a while and you dont pay attention to it... Lol it doesnt happen over night like people say it will.

Xenia is a hit or miss coral which depends on the individual tank... some people can't keep it to save their life, and others need to trim it almost monthly. I personally think it's a great looking coral & worth trying.

I need to trim mine every month. And when I trim it, the parts I cut and don't catch attach all over my rocks. It's a real pain for me. I started with a small rock about 6-7 months ago.

I'd be glad to take your trimmings lol

sounds like yours really take off

Here's mine I got Feb 28th (first two pics from then). I have it contained on one main rock on the right that it will drop new stalks onto the sand where I can just pick em up and sell/trade em and also placed some on my spray bar and behind my rockwork :)

Cool! It seems to be going crazy in your tank, does it require much pruning to keep it in check?

Like I said I keep it pretty contained so anything extra sprouting off lands on the sand so I just trade or sell the new stalks which I get a couple a month

I've never had any luck with anthelias or xenia. Can keep it, but it doesn't grow fast at all for me.
