Pulsing Xenia pruning ???

Ok, they are growing like crazy and I hear you can prune them

Just exactly how do you prune them ?

Do they need to come out of the tank to do this, do they release any toxins when you cut them?

Can I slice them off the rocks ?

What do you cut them with razor blade or ???

This is my first time having to REMOVE anything.

Thanks for you help !

use a razor blade, it wont matter much because if you cant get every piece of them off the rocks they will grow back :P

kudzu I tell you!

I am trying to get them to grow on my back glass ;P easy to prune, and it gives the back a different appearence..

I use a pair of sharp scissors, much easier than a knife or a blade. They do release some goo into the tank so I always make sure I am running fresh carbon on pruning day.

You can always put a few rocks next to the Xenia, let it grow onto them and then take them out the tank. Bring them to your LFS for store credit..or give them to another reefer. Otherwise, use a razor blade or scissors and just cut out the pieces you don't want.

Get some peices of LR rubble and let the xenia "crawl" onto it. Bag it up and sell it to the LFS or trade it to local reefer. It is a good problem to have.
