Pump noise affecting tank inhabitants?

Is there any research that has been done in finding if the vibration noise coming from our pumps has any adverse affect on the life forms in our tanks? I can get mine fairly quiet to my ears but if you put your ear to the actual tank glass you can hear the vibration noise in the water. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
