I'm going to do a waterchange in my 15 gallon QT, which I initially filled up with main tank water when it was started.

I'm planning on getting rid of 50% of the water, and replacing it with newly-mixed saltwater.

Is this ok - keeping 50% of the old "main tank" water, and putting 50% new water in?

Not sure I understand that sentence but the mount of water you change should be directly related to why. If for ammonia and such, 50% would be fine. If it's just a regular change, I'd stick to 20% ish. The innitial fill of the QT is okay with main tank water but never use it for any future water changes, only use new saltwater for changes.

Cheers

OK - I've done 50% water because it's as easy to do 50% as 20% for me - ammonia and other levels are fine, I just thought I'd go "over" rather than "under" on my changes.
