Well I have a starfish(purple linkia). I have had it for about 2 weeks. It looks good. I need to do some work on my tank. The starfish however is on the eggcrate that I have over top of my tank so my wrasse will not get out. Its worked so far. Anyways if I remove the eggcrate the starfish will be out of the water. What do you suggest I do. Is it okay to be out of the water for a short period of time? Also can I take him off and put him on a rock?

IME they wont come out of the water. They will get near the surface to feed on microbes at the surface. Does your purple look like this one.

Very similar just smaller. I am wondering because he is on my top. I need to remove the top and if I do he will come out of the water. Will this hurt it?

I need to get to the overflow box as soon as I can. He has been on the top for two days now. What are your thoughts about how I can get him off of there?

You can move it but I would not expose to air. LA says "The Blue Linckia Sea Star should never be exposed to air while handling."

Thanks guys! Luckily he was on the glass this morning and I was able to get everything done that I needed to.
