I have a 55gallon with a center brace (so it is actually 2x24" fixtures usually) but I just bought a 48" coralife pc strip 4x65w... My question is this... should I worry about the center brace melting or warping? is 260w enough heat to hurt the plastic? I would think it wasn't that hot because it would warp the ends too... It does have a fan on each side. Any ideas? If I am in danger of it warping/melting what should I use to surround the center brace to keep it clear from damage...
BTW I ordered the feet to keep it off the tank itself but was hoping to use it directly on the tank til they arrive next week.

You will be fine. It will be best to lift it about 2-3" off the water. Water temp migt be an issue if you don't. Once you get the feet, you will be set.

Good Luck.
