Quick help! is this a mantis or pistol?Putting live rock in.

A mantis will have really big-bug-out eyes. I don't see those in the picture. A pistol has one claw bigger than the other. I don't see that in the picture either. I'd hold that bugger aside until you get a proper ID on it.

The picture color is bad but he is a scarlet red. His eyes are not that big but he did pop my glove a few times when I caught him. I just put 350lbs of rock in my tank I am tired.

Definitely a mantis, I wouldn't put him in the tank if I were you. If you had a separate tank though, he would be cool to keep around.
