A couple days ago I cut my toastood to make it smaller. The 8 smaller pieces that were cut from it are held down with toothpicks. Before I cut it, I measured my NO2 and it was zero. Today it is about 0.3. Apart from a raised NO2 my skimmer also stopped skimming.

Can someone tell me if the toastood is releasing something into the water that is causing these problem?

I'd guess it's shedding some cells and intercellular fluid at the site of injury. Hopefully in a few days it will heal the wounds and everyting will go back to normal.
