Reef Rock - Anyone Try This Out?

On average it's about $8 a pound here, but I live in AK. Shipping to here is completely ridiculous sometimes.

I don't think the live rock has that much buffering capability, it is the loads of bacteria they contain that helps break down organics. I use a bed of argonite crushed coral sand and that helps buffering.
