Reef Sand

I am looking to convert from crushed coral to sand. The question I have is about the black reef sand. I am curious to see how many people use or have used it and what pros and cons they have about it. I have also thought about doing a mix of white and black sand to get a salt & pepper look. Anybody ever see this done? TIA

It will work fine but won't offer you any pH buffering like aragonite sand would.
