Davidfrances has fishy dreams
refugeium lighting

I have a 40 gallon sump in my 120 reef. I'm thinking of stocking the sump with either xenia or tridacna, and was wondering what type of lighting to use in the sump. I'd like to rule out [acronym:dd8e7ad7e5="Metal halide light"]MH[/acronym:dd8e7ad7e5], the heat build up in the cabinet would max out my chiller and fan. Also the main tank is lit with 2x175w and 1x 250w [acronym:dd8e7ad7e5="Metal halide light"]MH[/acronym:dd8e7ad7e5]. Would [acronym:dd8e7ad7e5="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:dd8e7ad7e5] bulbs work, and if so does anyone have any recommendations?

why would you want corals in the refugeium? most people put algae in it . but [acronym:bd8c2d43a4="Power compact fluorescent"]pc[/acronym:bd8c2d43a4] would be fine to have the xenia growing in it.

And a 30 [acronym:26a24007a2="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:26a24007a2] ([acronym:26a24007a2="Small Polyped Stoney"]SPS[/acronym:26a24007a2] and Clam) reef tank hooked up to the sump of the 46 so they share water.
