Any benefit to use reef salt mix in my fish and soft coral tank ? I get my salt water pre mixed from my LFS and they use regular salt mix and was thinking about making my own. I know softies don't need the extra items in reef salt but wanted to know if they would do better or the same if I use reef salt.

As long as the levels remain stable, things will be just fine in a tank dominated by soft coral. Though I'd assume that mixing up the water on your own would probably be cheaper for you in the long run.

Softies DO use elements from the water column, just not as much as stony corals. Yes, a reef grade salt mix should be better than a FO/FOWLR salt mix if you are keeping corals.
