i have a tank set up now with a lot of live rock in it and i want to move some of the rock to a new tank but some of the rock has quite a bit of alge growing on it what is the best way to take care of this problem
The best way to take care of the problem is to take care of the nitrate/phosphate source that's causing the algae. Not buy a tang.
What are your test results? Are you using tap water or RO water? How often are you feeding? How long do you leave your lights on?
As for removing the algae from the rocks before moving them, (which I believe was your question) try scrubbing them with a soft toothbrush. This should help. Good luck.
