I have two IceCap Model 430 Electronic Ballasts. They are 120 Volt, 60 Hz, 3.4 Amps max. They were driving 4 six foot VHO bulbs in an older tank.

I’m setting up a 95 gallon reef tank. I don’t know exactly what type of coral I want to keep, so let’s just say I’d like my lightning to be able to support the widest variety of soft coral as possible at a reasonable cost (although I am kinda partial to anemones).

The new tank is 48Lx18Wx22H. Is it o.k. to reuse those existing Ballasts? If so, what type of bulbs do I need to look into purchasing?

If these ballasts are old technology (and not worth reusing), and there is something definitively much better for my setup – what is it?

IceCap ballasts are state of the art flourescent ballasts. KEEP 'EM.
Someelse will be able to tell you how many, what size lamps you can light with one.
