Rising pH

I thought pH usually went down, rather than up?

Mine seems to have crept up to 8.3-8.4 over the past few weeks, from 8.2.

What would cause this?

I have a 35 gallon, with 2" live sand, rock, external canister wet/dry filter.

FYI: Carbonate Hardness the last time I checked was at 10dKh. Will check again though...

It goes up during the day and down at night. It really depends on the time of day you test the pH to what numbers you will get. Always try to test at approx the same time each day to get an accurate guage of how stable it is. Also never test after a buffer addition, it will skew the results.
